Now that I've seen Black Swan for about the gazillionth time (I have my ways..) I have decided to do this feature post on Rodarte, who designed all the ballet costumes in the movie and have an eclectic celebrity following for their outstanding and impeccably made creations.
They released their first publicly distributed ad campaign for their S/S 09 collection, and after winning the coveted CFDA Award for womenswear that very year, producing a cheaper more wearable line for Target, and also teaming up with Christian Louboutin for a season they have been steadily growing in popularity and notoriety.
Below are some of the fantastic first sketches of the Black Swan costumes drawn by Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte.

(And, if you have yet to see Black Swan, I strongly suggest you do so it's extremely fantastic, such a breathtakingly gorgeous movie that will leave you emotionally drained and spent after the first viewing but you will have no choice but to give into the urge and watch it again... and again... and again...)
